National Clean Off Your Desk Day

1/11/2021

The second Monday of January each year recognizes National Clean Off Your Desk Day.

This is an opportunity to begin your new year with a clean and organized workspace.  Whether your desk is in an office, cubicle, home, or your kitchen counter, having your workspace uncluttered and organized will help you work more efficiently.

Tips for Cleaning Your Desk and Getting Organized
Think of your desk as prime real estate – only items you use daily deserve to take up space.

These simple, but useful steps can help you clean and declutter your workspace:
  • Clear your desk and wipe down the surface.
  • Sort through items and discard or shred outdated documents, non-working pens, junk mail, etc.
  • File or digitize documents you need to retain in a system that works for you, such as labeled manila folders or a file system on your computer.
  • Keep files and supplies you use regularly in reach - pen/pencil caddies, stacked trays, or incline file sorters are tools to help you organize.
  • Finally, as you replace items on your clean desk, wipe each item down with an appropriate cleaning supply (some electronics need specific care).

If you need supplies to help you declutter, clean, and organize your workspace, check out our Temple Chamber Members who specialize in office supplies & equipment - https://bit.ly/3gPThpq.
