Summer Sizzle was on Friday, August 6, 2021, at the Santa Fe Plaza! Summer Sizzle consisted of a free community block party that featured a job fair followed by an evening of live music, food trucks, an outdoor market, and fun for the entire family. We are proud to say we had 19 companies work with 210 job fair attendees. The community event drew 4 food trucks, 20 vendors, and a crowd of 300. Thank you to our sponsors that helped make this event successful! American Legion Post #133, Cedar Crest Hospital & Residential Treatment Center, Hill & Wilkinson General Contractors, Security Bank Temple, Workforce Solutions of Central Texas, KCEN Channel 6, iHeart Media Waco/Temple/Killeen, Reynolds Consumer Products, Amos Electric, Datamars, Inc., PacTiv Evergreen, Lamar Advertising, and Ludwick, Montgomery & Stapp, PC. A special thank you goes to Niagara for donating water! Arthur Murray Temple offered a group dance lesson and Dapper & Dashin’ Salon offered haircuts from their booth. We had a variety of food trucks: Check Point Germany, KG&D Mobile Foods, and Rossler’s Blue Cord Barbecue. We also had an assortment of vendors offering treats like Boozzy Cakes, FoxDog, Kona Ice, and Texas Style BBQ. Market vendors that had their products for sale included Golden Poppy Boutique, Old Stumps & Scrapwood, Simply Smith’s Homemade, Simply Gracie Girl, Vixen Muscle, and West 40 Woodworks. Various Chamber Members set-up to visit with Sizzle-goers: the American Legion Post #133, KCEN Channel 6, Pearl’s Place, Reliant, an NRG Company, Reynold’s Consumer Products, State Farm - Veronica Logan, T3 The Gym, Total Men’s Primary Care, and Workforce Solutions of Central Texas. Temple Fire Department handed out fire hats to kids.

The Temple Chamber of Commerce is excited to host a free community event that will kick off with a job fair in the afternoon followed by an evening of live music, food trucks, an outdoor market, and fun for the entire family.
Coinciding with First Friday Downtown Temple, Summer Sizzle will take place today, Friday, August 6, 2021. The job fair will run from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at the Temple Workforce Office located at 201 Santa Fe Way, and the evening festivities will take place from 6:00 – 9:30 pm at the Santa Fe Plaza, 301 Santa Fe Way, in Temple. “The Chamber exists because of our local businesses, and we are here to support them. After the turbulent year of 2020, and as we persevere through the pandemic, our Board and Staff wanted to plan a safe, family-friendly event that supports all businesses and celebrates our community,” said Chamber President Rod Henry. The job fair, presented in partnership with Workforce Solutions of Central Texas, includes employers from the manufacturing, distribution, and civil service industries. Featured employers for the job fair include Datamars, Inc., Materials Transportation Company, McLane Company, PacTiv Evergreen, Panel Specialists, Inc., Performance Foodservice, Reynolds Consumer Products, and Wilsonart. Job Seekers are encouraged to pre-register for the event at MyTXCareer.com and to wear a face-covering/mask during the event. Food trucks and vendors for the outdoor market will be set up along Santa Fe Way and in the Plaza beginning at 6:00 pm. Live music by Ed Kline Music will take place from 6:00 – 7:00 pm in the Plaza and the Three4One Band will take the stage at 7:30 pm in the Plaza Greens. Lawn chairs or blankets are welcome to use while enjoying the music.
