October is Manufacturing Month, and Meet Temple and the Temple Chamber of Commerce partnered to celebrate the local manufacturing industry. The celebration began with a Job Fair on National Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) and continued with spotlights of our partnering manufacturers throughout the month.
Partnering manufacturers for the 2021 MFG Day initiative include MooreCo, Inc., Palladio Industries, Inc., Reynolds Consumer Products, Sunbelt Transformer, Temple Machine Shop, and Wilsonart. To wrap-up Manufacturing Month, we want to shine a spotlight on these Chamber Member 2021 MFG Day partners:

ANNUAL TRADITION UNITES THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY TO HONOR AND GIVE BACK TO THOSE WHO SUPPORT OUR HEALTH & FREEDOM The Temple Chamber of Commerce is proud to host the 37th annual Military & First Responder Salute presented by the American Legion Post #133 and H-E-B on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. The drive-thru lunch to go event will take place from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at the City of Temple Central Fire Station located at 201 N. Third Street in downtown Temple.
With continued uncertainty with large gatherings, this year’s drive-thru lunch to go event replaces the annual in-person luncheon at the Mayborn Convention Center. “We are excited to continue our annual tradition of celebrating and saluting our Central Texas Military partners and veterans,” noted Rod Henry, Temple Chamber President. “Like the 2020 event, we are also incorporating First Responders into the recognition to show our gratitude for their efforts on the front lines of the pandemic.” The Chamber, H-E-B, and volunteers will be preparing and serving lunch to go to our Central Texas Military Partners, the 13th ESC/Fort Hood, 1st Medical Brigade/Fort Hood, Garrison Command/Fort Hood, and the 278th Armored Cavalry/TxANG, local veterans, law enforcement, fire and rescue, EMS, and medical/health care professionals. Chamber staff have coordinated pre-orders with partners, veteran organizations, food kitchens, and event sponsors with groups of 10 or more, and the community, including walk-ups, are also invited to drive-thru and grab lunch to go, while supplies last. Through this event, the Chamber is uniting the business community to salute and honor those who have given so much. Temple is home to 130 manufacturing establishments that support nearly 6,600 jobs locally. One of those establishments, Wilsonart, is the world's leading producer of engineered surfaces. Over 65 years ago, Ralph Wilson, Sr., a retired laminate industry executive, founded Wilsonart in Temple, Texas as a producer of High-Pressure Decorative Laminate to “fill his free time.” By the end of the 1970s, Wilsonart® Laminate had become one of the nation’s leading providers of decorative laminate. Today, Wilsonart is a healthy, global organization with business in more than 90 countries and a product portfolio that boasts a full range of stunningly beautiful, functional and transformative engineered surface options now including Quartz, Coordinated Surfaces, Solid Surface, Adhesives, and more. Ralph Sr.’s home not only had a profound influence on future uses of laminate, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a significant architectural structure, and stands as one of the best residential examples of mid-century modern style in the state of Texas.
